Knowledge and skills management centre K&S Skopje is starting the realization of the project
The project Off-site industry towards innovation in construction sector – BuildOffsiteEU is a part of Erasmus+ 2022 Programme, with Grant Agreement No. 2022-1-ES01-KA220-VET-000087862, and will be implemented during 24 months starting from 30.12.2022 to 29.12.2024.
The project BuildOffSiteEU is addressing the design and development of new training paths with innovative tools aiming at bridging skill gaps between traditional occupations and “new occupations” for industrialized construction. It will therefore act toward dealing with the environment and fight against climate change.
The project is developed under the partnership of 5 institutions:
- FUNDACION LABORAL DE LA CONSTRUCCION, Spain
- Knowledge and skills management centre K&S Skopje, Macedonia
- Gospodarska Zbornica Slovenije, Slovenia
- Istituto per l’instruzione professionale dei lavoratori edili della provincia di Bologna, Italy
- Pedmede Somateio, Greece
The Knowledge and Skills Management Centre K&S Skopje is the main partner in charge of setting a framework for the scope of the professional skills needed for the transition to industrialized construction, by connecting the skills of traditional workers and those needed in the production of modular construction elements. This project activity will result with creating of digital map of skills for “new occupations” by clearly identifying reskilling/upskilling needs.
BuildOffsiteEU aims to improve and expand the training offer in vocational education and training to meet the needs of the labour market in the construction industry, identifying key competences that need to be updated and/or reinforced in the field of industrialised construction in order for the sector to successfully face environmental challenges. Its results aim to cover different needs: to systematise the competences that workers need to improve their professional performance in the field of industrialised construction; to differentiate the different industrialised construction systems; to involve the different actors involved in the sector in the transition from traditional to industrialised construction; to identify “new competences” to facilitate the transition of the workforce between both modalities; to improve the image of the sector; and to promote construction as a catalyst for employability and labour attraction.
Why BuildOffSiteEU?
The construction sector has a direct impact on several of the indicators affecting climate change and energy use. This forces the industry to become more efficient and rely on the use of renewable sources to achieve the climate and energy saving targets set by European environmental policies. This gives off-site construction a unique opportunity to develop and contribute to sustainable building.
Industrialised construction significantly favours energy and water savings by using fewer materials for the manufacture of its products, by shortening construction times (with consequent savings in energy demand) and by prioritising the use of elements made of materials with higher and better recycling possibilities, which allows the application of circular economy principles throughout the production cycle of the assets.
Project objective: to design and develop a new training path with innovative tools aimed at briging skills gaps between traditional occupations and “new occupations” of industrialised construction.
WP1. Project management
WP2. Analysis of the different industrialized systems
This work package will provide a detailed analysis of main industrialised construction systems, describing in detail their relationship with the principles and objectives of circular economy and energy efficiency. It will provide as a result the Report on the Analysis of the industrialised construction system.
WP3. Setting the professional skills
The aim of this work package is to establish correlations between the skills demanded by industrialised industry and traditional skill. The main result will be mapping of the “new skills” and creation of the Interactive skills map.
WP4. Training path design
This work package will result with the Analysis of the training offer in each country including research of documentary sources and conducting interviews with experts and development of a Common training path.
WP5. Elaboration of innovative tools
Within this work package the development of the technical format and design of the structure and the content of the e-tools to support the outcomes from the previous work packages will be realised: Digital fact sheets, Interactive skills map, Interactive Offsite training path; e-Guide for trainers.
